THE CHALLENGE
Workers were handling 20' long internal vibrators while standing on ladders and this became a safety concern. The contractor decided to try using external concrete vibrators.
VIBCO'S SOLUTION
Working with VIBCO's engineers, a special bracket was designed that could easily be attached and removed from the form when using Model US-1600 vibrators (page 4). The vibrators were placed 8' apart and staggered on 4' levels. They were started when the concrete reached them and they ran until the pour reached the next level of mounted vibrators. Those units were then turned off and moved 4' above top row.
THE RESULTS
The resulting concrete wall's finish was perfect. The contractor was very pleased with the results and has now committed to using external vibrators on his wall forms because of the improved safety, the ease of handling, and the perfectly finished product.
