CUSTOMERPaul Riefler, Inc., Camp Road, Hamburg, NY 14075 THE CHALLENGETo speed up production and improve the quality of concrete splash blocks and other small cast concrete products. VIBCO'S SOLUTIONTwo 2P-450 electric vibrators were mounted to two pieces of 12" channel to form a long 24" wide vibrating table. Good vibration transfer up and down the channel allows 6 to 8 concrete molds to be vibrated at one time. THE RESULTSConsolidation of the concrete is now accomplished rapidly, producing a dense, blemish-free, product. |

THE RULE OF THUMB FOR SIZING VIBRATORS
For 3" slump and higher, the impact or force (in lbs.) on the vibrator should approximate the total weight (in lbs.) of the concrete, form, table top and vibrator. An additional 30 to 50% impact is needed for 1/2" slump concrete. For very dry mixes or zero slump concrete, 100 to 200% additional impact on the vibrator is needed. The form to be vibrated can either be clamped to the table top or laid loose upon it. When the latter method is used, less vibration is normally needed due to the additional impact that results from the form bouncing up and down. An unclamped form, because of the bouncing impacts, must be made sturdier than the form that is clamped or bolted to the table top. However, a denser and smoother concrete is often achieved with an unrestrained form. As a general rule, for tables over 4' x 4', two vibrators are needed to distribute the vibration evenly over the surface. When using two vibrators one must be rotated clockwise, and the other counterclockwise. |
